Wonderful Winter Walks

Dry Autumn Days match perfectly with butter yellow and vibrant red leaves that have been falling prolifically this November. Many of our guests have been seeking alternatives to busy streets and museums... Just walking straight out of our gate is an opportunity not to have to plan or find the car keys - there are miles of tracks, quiet lanes and fields to breath, see and hear a different run up to Christmas! A firm favourite is descending over Ashford hangers into Steep and meeting friends for a pint at the Harrow Inn (famous for the most unspoilt pub in England) and facing the challenging climb back up towards Edward Thomas's Poet Stone. Round trip about 4 miles and some serious leg aching and exhilaration built-in.

Further afield, Old Winchester Hill nr East Meon is the high point in Hampshire with more challenging hills, a medieval fort and nature reserve. Local pub The Thomas Lord is an upmarket pub, but also caters well for exhausted walkers in comfy leather sofas beside the fire!

On a beautiful crisp day, a beach walk wouldn't be exactly a challenge for the less adventurous - the sand dunes and white sandy beach will thrill children and dogs, both of which we cater for brilliantly at Bootmenders..lastly back here for tea and cake.
